Re: well all things considered
To start with, I'm Canadian, so other than chuckling at the many 'threats ' of various Republicans that they were "emigrating to Canada," I looked on the whole election with puzzlement. Had I been a citizen of the US, I'd had voted 'None of the Above,' but I live in Canada and I have to su...

Re: Earth Bond Chapter 20 Discussion (spoilers!)
mass-canceling technology/magic is nice, but it's inertia that is the real killer. Even anti-grav encounters problems in the larger scale. Newton's law tells us that if something moves, it will tend to remain moving (ie interia/momentum). Where inside the local (anti-)grav field you might not be su...

Re: Thor's Child - complete to Chapter 23
I love the book so far and can't wait for the next chapter! Unfortunately a recent operation on the sciatic region of his back has made writing a problem for K Pelle. At the present time he is unable to concentrate on writing, but he is recuperating and should be back in the saddle (so to speak) re...

Re: Detour to otherwhen
Sorry folks, I know it's been a while since I posted anything, but I've been having a rough time health wise and have had to take some rather powerful pain meds. When I'm on heavy meds, I simply can't write because my mind is on other things. I've just had a few treatments and things are starting to...

Re: Gday and all that
Look at that. US funds from a US department paid for the training of a Canadian to compete in international swimming competitions including the Olympics. Should we add the Ohio State budget to the Canadian Olympic Budget since you add it to the US Olympic budget? Do we really need to go through the...

Re: Gday and all that
Sorry to intrude on this again, but lets face it, the OhLimpHicks could almost be called the present day 'Cold War' and the biggest opponents spend billions to show off how great they are. I had lunch today with a few friends I used to work with at one of the local universities and they clued me in...

Re: Detour to otherwhen
I've tried a few speech to text programs but they don't like my voice. I have a 'gravelly' tone and I think that throws them off, because no matter how many times I've tried to 'train' the programs they do an absolutely rotten translation of what I say. I've spent far too much time and money on them...

Re: Detour to otherwhen
Imagine a bunch of people and a chunk of land - all moved backward through time (Something like Eric Flint did with the 1632 series). Let them keep some technology, but surround them with savages who may be their own ancestors. Oh, yeah add in a few 'interesting' personality quirks just for the fun ...

Oh my goodness, I'm late at finding this - THANKS Fel - now I have some reading for later in the day when I take a break.
Right now I'm off to buy some painkillers so I'll be able to sit down and enjoy your work.

Re: Thor's Child & Detour to Otherwhen
The steam engine and boiler are designed, the drawings are done and the customer is ecstatic, so that's off my plate for now - and that's the good news. The bad news is that while I was repairing the plotter the other day I 'tweaked' my back a bit, so writing is a touch slower than I would have like...
