I remember a story from my past where there was an accident where an alien tries to fix or compensate the person injured. It involved precious metals and special trucks.

Re: Lost & Found
it seems my memory has combined two stories. this was one and the second had the hero kill a bunch of buffalo that piled up to protect the wagon. A chief sees the pile and is at first upset at the excess kill but then understands. The hero shares and they become friends.

Re: Lost & Found
a story on SOL came to mind last night and all my searching was for naught. It had to do with a poker game, husband killed and a young man leading family. It includes a buffalo stampede an Indian chief and a house set in a depression and free range cattle.

Re: Lost & Found
Thanks - that was it. Thirty years as an accounting systems specialist, I have had many such 'rescues' and when telling a friend about some of them, I remembered the story and decided I would like to read it again while my mind still is able to follow the story. I thought it was in my library but it...

understood and you have my deepest sympathy. Was this from a prolonged illness or something sudden. My wife was murdered years ago while I was out of town and I never got to say good-bye. I still have trouble grieving.

Re: Lost & Found
When I started writing in 2001, I was used to making a 6 figure income, so writing was fun and was never intended to generate income. The bottom fell out of my business as of 9/11 and my revenue dropped more than 60%. I let my employees go and continued to make enough for me and my family to survive...

Re: Lost & Found
Thanks everyone, I have the original 3 books and part of the revision but I haven't read them in years. I was interested to see that he published Tides of Mars in its complete form. I got into it but posting was so erratic that I gave up. One thing that confused me was that I was certain it was from...

Re: Lost & Found
Thanks. As soon as you said it, I remembered it was from one of Green Dragon's stories. I have another, and I'm not sure the source. Some people are rescued by colonist on the moon and one extremist Christian woman is offended by the colonist's life style and ends up trying to bypass the internal lo...

Re: Need some program advice
I also have switched to LibreOffice after using MS Word since ver 2.0. On my last book on Storiesonline (Shiloh) I collaborated with a bloke from Australia who was using the program and he had converted much of my work into the format preferred by some of the online publishing house. To make it easi...
